Paso Robles
ABOUT
Officially it is El Paso de Robles meaning “the pass of oaks” is the largest city in North County and has the most to offer commercially with a variety of big box stores to choose from. Located off the 101 freeway and known for its wineries and olive groves, Paso is a great place to live, work or to visit.
HISTORY
Paso is known for its mineral hot springs and built the first mineral baths around 1860. In 1864 the first hotel was constructed and had a hot spring. After Southern Pacific Railroad settled in a townsite began in 1886 and 228 lots were sold in one weekend. In 1889 Paso incorporated a s a city.
GEOGRAPHY
Paso has rolling hills to flat lands that offer a variety of options from flat city living to perched high on a hill overlooking Lake Nacimiento.
CLIMATE
Paso offers a more inland type of weather that is warmer in summer and cooler in winter than the cities on the coast like Cambria and Cayucos.
DEMOGRAPHICS
Paso has approximately 30,000 residents and diverse range of land from flat to rolling hills, sitting on the foothills of the Santa Lucia Coastal Mountain range gives this the perfect weather for growing crops like almonds, olives and grapes.
ECONOMY
Paso has everything from big box to small mom and pop shops, small motels to large hotels. Paso is rich in history and vineyards and is sometimes called lower Napa Valley. Historically Paso has been a commercial winemaker since 1882.

A warmer summer climate facilitates a lot of activities and outdoor events with the beaches 30 minutes away. Paso provides every walk of life from city to rural acreage, farmland, and everything in between!

Just a few things to do in Paso: Vintage sidecar (1950-), mid-state fair, winemaker cookoff, hundreds of wineries to visit and lets not forget Lake Nacimiento.
